Tom’s career spans over four decades and encompasses the fields of philanthropy, education, and the arts. He established the Cambridge office of WolfBrown in 1983 after serving as the founding Director of the New England Foundation for the Arts for seven years. His clients have included 10 of the 50 largest U.S. foundations, government agencies such as the National Endowment for the Arts, and treasured international cultural institutions like the British Museum, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Kennedy Center. Tom has consulted directly with the leaders of major cities, including Chicago, Cleveland, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Dallas on the creation of vibrant cultural communities. Tom holds a doctorate in education from Harvard, where he taught for several years. He is the author of Managing a Nonprofit Organization, Effective Leadership for Nonprofit Organizations, How to Connect with Donors, and The Nightingale’s Sonata, among numerous articles and books.
